we love Melissa and Doug at our house. i actually don't know a house with kids (or educators) that doesn't. they are amazing at crafting toys that are engaging, durable, beautiful, affordable, and most important, safe. and we know of what we speak: here is a partial list of M&D toys that have been (or will soon be, come christmas) road tested at Casa de Arlo:

• chomp and clack alligator push toy; which, truth be told, we got as a hand-me-down. it got a HUGE amount of use from arlo and is now on to its third home!
• soft rainbow stacker; we actually have two of these.
• shape sorting cube; which we got this along with these:
• alphabet nesting and stacking blocks last christmas, and both are still in beautiful condition. after daily use. really.
• wooden 123/ABC blocks. i love that these look like the ones i had, and probably like the ones my mom had.
• cinco starfish collapsible bucket.
• happy giddy tunnel. which played a HUGE roll in arlo's first birthday party, as well as being a pretty amazing crawl-inducer, back in those days...
• and, the food groups; of which the chicken leg and the anchovy (?) seem to be his favorite. don't ask me, he's a nutty kid that way.
