oh, minnie.

after a long long friday evening, 3 hours into the next morning we brought minnie into the 24 hour emergency care. she had stopped responding to her chemotherapy a week and a half ago, and the prognosis was bleak. every day since then, there was a little less minnie, a little more tumors. her breathing had become labored, and her fever was high. we cried, we thought, we held cold washcloths and packets of frozen rice to her abdobmen. she kissed my face. and then we took her in, and put her down.

minnetonka, it is so so quiet here without you. the other two have nowhere near the presence that you had. there is so much room on the bed, and nowhere near enough kleenex to mop up the grief. the hole in my heart is shaped like you.
