what a megatron is:

i think anyway.

maybe its not called a megatron, truth be told, i've only been to a few sporting events. but i always called it a megatron.

either way, that up there either is or is not the megatron at the hollywood bowl (notice lit up bowl stage in the left of the photo). and that, up there, on the thing that i call a megatron, is colin who, aside from being the lead singer of the decemberists, made me plenty of salads at the american dream, once yelled "shirtsmith!" at me while i attempted to run past him up a flight of stairs, shaved in the bathroom of my first apartment in portland, and...

oh my god, i sound like one of those people, one of those i knew him when people.

but i did, and i went to see his band play to 15000people at the hollywood bowl with the la philharmonic playing behind him, oboes and harps and all, and i wrote, in my head, a whole thing about it, and of course i've since forgotten it all, but yeah.

i knew him when and i still am amazed at all of it.

he has, however, become a bit strange looking, i think. from what i remember, especially from one night in early summer, when nicole and i stood next to each other against the wall of a low-ceilinged basement in north portland, and drank shots every time he mentioned pirates, ships or the sea, he was once much more swoonworthy. i think. or maybe we don't hold our liquor well.
